Canarian Parliament approves trans-gender law

The Canarian Parliament has unanimously approved legislation that recognizes self-determination of gender identity.

Seen as a significant step forward for members of the LGBTQ+ community, the new law grants additional rights and prohibits discrimination based on a persons gender.

It also affords people additional protections and assistance.

It also outlaws any medical requirement to determine a person’s gender, with breaches facing fines of up to €45,000.
