Coronavirus: Government hope to come to furlough agreement in coming days

The Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, has said that she expects the Government will come to an agreement before the end of the week over an extension to the ERTE furlough scheme in place to support those unemployed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In a press conference yesterday, she said that discussions with unions and business leaders was ongoing, and was hopeful of terms for an extenion to be agreed between all parties in the coming days if not sooner.

She went on to say that the Governments main priority was to return people to work, however they also understood that some sectors were still limited in their ability to trade due to the ongoing pandemic.
