Coronavirus social protections to remain in place until end of October

The Government has extended the “social shield” period until the end of October, lengthening the period of time that measures to protect those most at risk financially and socially from the pandemic are in force.

Bans against evictions, as well as ensuring water and electricity supplies are not cut from those who are economically vulnerable are to remain in place until the 31st October as the country slowly returns to life post-pandemic.

Alongside financial and housing protections, also measures to help victims of gender violence will remain as a priority until the end of October.
