€7.2 billion earmarked for regional governments by end of year in covid recovery package

7.2 billion euros are to be distributed to regional governments before the end of the year as part of the country’s recovery from the coronavirus pandemic, it was announced by Minister of Finance María Jesús Montero yesterday.

The money, part of the European Union recovery fund, will arrive in the coming months with €200 million due in the coming days.

By the end of the summer months, it is expected that around €9 billion in emergency funding will have arrived in the country.

The money is to be spent on improvements to housing, providing training and also to improve infrastructure across the country.
