Government considering relaxation of mask rules

The Government is reported to be considering the easing of rules over the wearing of facemasks as the infection rate of the coronavirus continues to fall.

The wearing of masks has been compulsory indoors and out across most of Spain, regardless of social-distancing, since last summer.

In a statement from the health emergency chief Fernando Simon, he said that if the rate of infections continues to fall, the wearing of masks outdoors may not be required within the next few months.

Regional governments in Castilla la Mancha and Madrid have both said they are planning on relaxing rules over the wearing of masks in the coming weeks.
