Man’s body discovered in La Palma over ash clearing concerns

A 72-year-old man has been found dead in his home on the island of La Palma.

An investigation is currently underway to determine if the man died due to falling from the roof of his property whilst clearing ash from his house, of if he died from other causes.

La Palma Eruption

Emergency services were alerted to reports of the man being unresponsive on Saturday afternoon, with an ambulance dispatched to the property in El Paso.

58 days have passed since the initial eruption, making this one of the longest recorded eruptions on the island.

In her update yesterday, director of the National Geographic Institute in the Canaries said that the amount of energy in the eruption was starting to fade, along with the strength and frequency of earthquakes.
