Separatist pardons to be presented to government before end of the month

Minister of Finance and Government Spokesperson, María Jesús Montero, has said that the Government will come to a final decision over controversial plans to issue pardons to Catalan separatist politicians ahead of the next meeting between prime minister Pedro Sanchez and Catalan regional president Pere Aragonés.

Documents concerning the planned pardons are to be put before the Government before the end of the month, giving time for Sanchez and Aragonés to meet.

There has been a number of protests across Spain in recent weeks over plans to pardon those imprisoned due to their involvement in the disputed independence referendum and declaration of independence in 2017.
