Thousands of tonnes of waste saved from landfill in Lanzarote

Nearly 3,000 tonnes of waste which can be recycled or safely processed has been disposed of by the The Cabildo de Lanzarote in the first half of this year, the authority has announced.

Across the four facilities in Arrecife, Playa Blanca, Playa Honda and Puerto del Carmen, oil, furniture and building waste are amongst the items currently being collected for processing, reducing the volume of waste heading to landfill.

A new site is due to open in the coming weeks in Costa Teguise, which the Minister of Waste for the Cabildo – Hugo Delgado – will help improve citizen collaboration.
